Monitoring the anchor forces at the Danube bridge in Linz
swiss sensor technology
Description of the
Enertec Engineering AG used 60 anchor load cells to monitor the anchor forces of the main suspension cables of the Danube bridge in Linz. This precise measurement technology contributed to the safety of the construction and will continue to be monitored during operation of the bridge.
The 4th Danube Bridge Linz is an impressive infrastructure project that creates an essential link across the Danube. With a Span of 305.55 metres and two main supporting cables, it is one of the most technically demanding bridge structures in Austria. The project is part of the A26 Linz motorway and is intended to significantly improve the flow of traffic in the Linz area. The client is the ASFINAGthe bridge is being built by the engineers of the Baumann + Obholzer ZT GmbH in co-operation with Schlaich Bergermann Partner (sbp) from Stuttgart was realised. The architecture was designed by the office Gerkan, Marg and Partners from Aachen. The construction period extends from 2018 to 2024with planning commencing as early as 2005.
Our service: Precise anchor force monitoring for maximum safety
The Enertec Engineering AG delivered 60 anchor load cells (load plates) of the types LCM 2600 with a nominal load of 2600 kN for the company DSI from Pasching, which provided the anchors for anchoring the retaining structure for the support cables. With our load cells and the corresponding automatic data loggers the anchor force was precisely monitored during the entire construction process. This monitoring was crucial to ensure the safety of the structure and the stability of the bridge.
In future operation, the monitoring of the anchor forces will also be carried out by the monitoring system of the ASFINAG which ensures long-term stability.
