Description of the

Together with what is probably the fastest signal amplifier on the market, the result is the perfect solution for machine control.

Strain sensors measure the surface strain between the two screw-on points, which is mechanically amplified within the sensor. The optional integrated amplifier processes the signal at the mounting point to avoid EMC problems. With a sampling rate of 50 kHz and a signal delay of less than 100 microseconds, the strain sensor enables perfect process monitoring.

Thanks to its robust design, this sensor can also be used in harsh industrial environments. The sensors do not necessarily require cyclical taring. A tare can be carried out via a digital pin or the digital interface. Two measuring ranges of the input signal can be selected via the same digital pin. The amplifier can be configured with a PC via the digital interface. The digital interface is also used for filter setting, calibration and testing. Amplification and tare function can also be carried out via the digital interface in addition to the digital pins. An internal temperature sensor is available. The data from an external temperature sensor can also be used for calibration.

Additional functions for strain sensors with digital amplifier EHDS2 (-10 to 10V)

Additional functions for strain sensors with digital amplifier EHDS2 (-10 to 10V)

The input range of the amplifier is 2.5 mV/V as standard. Other input ranges are optionally available.

Second selectable amplification level

The amplification can be changed by an adjustable factor via the software or a digital pin. This means that measurements with input signals of very different levels can also be carried out with a high resolution. The amplification can be adjusted by a factor of 1 to 100.

Calibration of interpolation points or 3rd degree polynomial

Any number of interpolation points can be recorded and the corresponding piecewise linearisation with 32 line segments can be carried out on their basis. The force can also be calibrated using a polynomial up to the 3rd degree.

Flexibly adjustable filters

2nd order Cauer filters can be set. For very slow measurements, moving average low-pass filters with a cut-off frequency of 0.03 Hz to 7.68 Hz can be set.

Various tare settings

Various tare modes can be selected: no tare, last tare value, tare when switching on, continuous tare.

Applications

Weight and axle load measurements on vehicles

Strain sensors are used to monitor the weight or axle load of vehicles. This allows, for example, the load to be monitored and overloading to be avoided. The robust strain sensors ensure reliable measurement results even when used under harsh operating conditions.

Monitoring of steel structures

With our robust strain sensors, the column forces on steel beams can be monitored very easily and effectively. This works reliably for permanent or changing loads.

Monitoring of wind turbines

By using strain sensors on wind turbines, loads on the tower or rotor blade are reliably monitored. Overloads are thus recognised and damage to the wind turbine is prevented. The calculated service life can be adjusted based on the actual loads.

Monitoring of injection forces

The strain sensors can be used to reliably monitor the forces in excavation sprouts and other safety-relevant sprouts. The robust strain sensors guarantee reliable measurement results even when used under harsh operating conditions.
